Margaret Sue Estes, 88, of Athens, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at SHC of Cleveland.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late John and Viola Moses Shadden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Estes; one son, Eddie Estes; one brother, Homer Shadden; and one sister, Jessie Shadden. She was an active member of Clearwater Baptist Church and the WMU. She loved to cook and garden.

Survivors include one son and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Beverly Estes of Murfreesboro, and Sharon Estes of Knoxville; one daughter, Sherry Crye of Cleveland; two sisters, Edna Johnson of Englewood, and Bobbie Johnson of Etowah; five grandchildren and their spouses, Keri and Matt Bunasky, Justin and Katie Estes, Emily and Miles Ledford, Eric Crye and Katie Estes; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Stephen Bunasky; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bryant officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in Clearwater Cemetery with nephews serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
