Jerry W. Bradford, 65, a resident of Carrollton, Ohio, for more than 20 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Bowerston Pointe Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bowerston, Ohio.
He was of the Baptist faith and was employed as an electrician for many years. He enjoyed fishing and was the drummer and lead singer in a band called "The Spades" in the late 1950s. The group was later known as "The Dolphins," playing in Athens, Cleveland, Atlanta, Ga., and Texas. A native and former resident of Athens, he was also a former resident of Sweetwater and Niota. He was the son of Pauline Hafley Bradford of Niota, and the late Paul Bradford.
Survivors in addition to his mother include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Reese and Cindy Bradford of Rockwood, and Steven Bradford of Athens; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Felecia and Bob Phillips and Amy and Keith Woodby, all of Sweetwater, and Nikki Bradford of Carrollton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Patrick Bradford of Rockwood, Tyler Phillips and Koty Daniel, both of Sweetwater, Leland Bradford of Athens, and Kaithlynn Smith, Jordan DeCarlo and Braydon Carper, all of Carrollton, Ohio; three stepsons and two spouses, Branson Pagas of Carrollton, Ohio, Brian and Karen Pagas of Newark, Ohio, and Jimmy and Jennifer Pagas of New York.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Hicks and Evangelist Keith Woodby officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Riceville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donald Hafley, Danny Hafley, Rick Hafley, Larry Hafley, Chuck Hafley and Terry Hafley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
