Robert Allen "Bob" Marler, age 64, of Athens passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, August 20, 2008.
A native of McMinn County, he had resided in Athens for the past 15 years and was a former resident of Martinsville, Virginia. He was an employee of U. S. Express Trucking Company and of the Penecostal Faith. He formerly served with the U. S. Army.
Survivors: Wife of 43 years, Patricia Littreal Marler of Athens, TN. Daughter, Alethea Marler Chrisman of Athens, TN. Two Sons: Stuart Allan "Sam" Marler of Madisonville, TN & Robert Allen "Bobby" Marler II of Martinsville, VA. Mother, Marie Martin Wright of Lake City, Florida. Father, Luther "Luke" Marler of Princeton, West Virginia. Nine Grandchildren: Brandon Lee Marler, Brittany Nicole Marler, Patricia Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Marler, Emily Faith Marler Chrisman, Elijah Andrew Marler, Chasity Michelle Edwards, Brett Allen Marler, Betty Rose Marler, and Desiree "Desi" Marler. Two Great-grandchildren: Whitney Alexis "Lexie" Edwards and Devin Allan Edwards. Three Sisters: Betty Martin of Madisonville, TN., Jane Brown of Athens, TN., and Elizabeth "Tootsie" Werington of Lake City, Fla. Three Brothers: Ronnie Marler of Charleston, WV., Jeff Marler of Knoxville, TN., and Johnny Mac Wright of Lake City, Fla. Several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Pastor Clifford Waters officiating.
The service will conclude with the Dove Release.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
