HORACE PATTON (“Pat”) MOORE, II, age 72, a lifetime resident of Niota, Tenn. passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017, at his residence surrounded by family. 

He was born in McMinn County, Tenn. to the late Allen Richard and Dora Johnson Moore and was preceded in death by his Grandparents,  Horace Patton Moore and Mary Ann Ziegler Moore, Rudolph Adelburg and Ella Miller Johnson; Sister and Brother-in-law, Anne M. and Kinzel Baker; Sister-in-law, Jacky Gatlin Moore; Aunt and Husband, Grace M. and Herbert Thomas; Uncle and Aunt, Jacob H. and Helen J. Moore; Special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ray Burkett, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Melton, Alec and Mattie Bradley, as well as his First Wife, Sue F. Moore.

Pat Graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1967 where he belonged to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was in the National Guard from 1966-1972 in Sweetwater and Etowah, serving in the 117th Heavy Weapons attached to Headquarters Company Regiment, 30th division. He was Treasurer for Ft. Loudon Regional Library Board from 1967-1968. Pat started farming early in life, after over 30 years he sold his Dairy herd in 1992.

He was on the Board of Directors of McMinn County Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. and became Secretary/Treasurer from 1995-2015. Pat was a member of the Niota Lion's Club for 25 years, and was a Deacon and member of Niota First Baptist Church.  Pat was 9 years old in Eugene Collins Sunday School Class when the spirit came over him, Preacher Dewey Garner said Pat was the smallest person he had ever baptized and joined the church. Pat led a blessed life, he was fortunate to have great men advise him thru the years. Some of these men are/were: Nobert Hashe, Harold Hicks, Arthur Hicks, Hugh Willson, E. B. Bohannon, Jr. Glen Richeson. Pat transacted business owned by these men and because of the way he was treated made him a better person.

Survivors include his Wife, Vicki Moore of Niota, Tenn.; Two Sons and daughters-in-law: Horace Patton Moore III and Lori Elaine Moore of Niota, Tn., Erin Allen and Katherine Moore of Huntsville, Al.; Daughter, Julia Moore of Cookeville, Tenn.; Step-Children and spouses: Rachel and Matthew Klusman of Athens, Tenn., Marshall Lee Hashe of Chesapeake, Va., Edith Anderson of Loudon, Tn.  and Delilah Anderson of Niota; Ten Grandchildren: Jacob A. Moore, Leah Moore, Horace P. Moore IV, Elizabeth Moore, Hannah Klusman, Isaiah Klusman, Blake Hashe, Maddisen Hashe, Virginia Mohns; Brother, Allen R. Moore of Louisville, Ky.; Mother-in-law, Mattie V. Hutsell of Athens, Tenn.; Brother-in-law, Charles Curtis Hutsell; Special Cousins: Mary and William Bennett, Alice and Josh Almanza, David and Debbie Wood, Harry and Evette Risen, Lynn Risen, Sally and Jim Williams, Nieces and Nephews: Jennifer M. and Dwight Jordan, Kinzal and Patti Baker, Richard Baker; Great Nephews, Will and Jacob Jordan; Special Friends: Gary Long, Freddie Burkett, Lynn Montgomery, Larry Kennedy, Jack Irwin, Austin Garren, Tyler Forrest, and J. Ben Forrest Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Chaplain. Mike Justice officiating.

Interment will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery on the Moore Farm.  Active pallbearers will be Scott Burkett, Mike Burns, Lewis Bradley, Rodney Knox, Will Jordan, and Jacob Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Niota First Baptist Church, Allen Carter, Board of Directors of McMinn County Farmers Mutual, Lois Preece, Lynn Hamilton and Norbert Hashe.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 Tuesday in the funeral home.
