JEAN WHITE ROBBINS, age 91 of Riceville, Tenn. passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, in Life Care Center of Athens.

A native of Windsor, NC and a resident of McMinn County since2004, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Frances Nicholls White.

She was raised in Ahoskie, NC and graduated with a degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. On August 28, 1948 she married Sam Robbins, Jr.  Everyone who knew her would say she was a sweet southern lady. She and Sam moved all over the south: North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Alabama and Tennessee. While in Fairhope, Alabama, she was a volunteer at Thomas Hospital for 21 years.

In 2004 she moved to Athens, TN where she eventually ended up in Life Care of Athens. She was of the Episcopal faith and was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Sam H. Robbins, Jr. and her brother James H, White, Jr.

Survivors include her Two sons and daughter-in-law; Sam and Christine Robbins of Riceville and John Robbins; One sister, Frances Hulse of Brunswick, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Jenny White of Montgomery, Alabama; Two grandchildren and spouses, Houston and Jennifer Robbins of Knoxville and Courtney and Alex Key of Sweetwater; Step grandchildren Christy and Mark Mendenhall of Athens; Three great-grandchildren and spouses, Jordan Key and Landon Key of Sweetwater and Barrett Robbins of Knoxville; one step great-grand child, Mason Mendenhall of Knoxville.  Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone involved in her care. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

The will be no formal visitation.

The family will have a graveside service in Fairhope, Alabama at a later date.
