Adelia Annette (Guthrie) Knight, age 85 , of Athens, reached heaven to be with her Savior, Wednesday, August 28, 2024. A native of McMinn County and a resident of Florida and east Tennessee her entire life, she was the daughter of the late James Horton and Meta Ethel Walker Guthrie. She loved the Lord and was a steadfast child of God. She was a teacher and a caretaker all her life. She was preceded in death by husband Dr. Marion Bartley Knight, Jr. , and sister Dr. Patricia Guthrie Thompson.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Steven Bartley and Michelle Knight of Loudon, TN; One daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Lynda Knight and Dr. David Norris of Athens; grandchildren, Phillip Knight, John Knight, Andrew Rogers, Ashley Rogers, Will Moorman and Mattie Moorman, Stefan Norris; cousins, Elizabeth Coleman and Gayle Davidson; several nieces and nephews. Special care givers, Dorenda Keller and Darrell Sparks.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 2, 2024 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Bernard officiating. The graveside will be 11 am Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Monday before the service in the chapel.
