AMA DEANE CORDELL, age 88 of Athens passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at her residence. A native and life long resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Emily Fillers Wallace. She was a beautician and owned Dean's Beauty Shop for over 50 years. She was a member of the Am Vets Women's Auxillary and was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mendal Cordell (January 18, 2022); four children, Linda Hall, Constance E. Lingerfelt, James Lingerfelt and Deborah A. Sanders; two sisters, Virgie Paisley and Betty McDaniel.
Survivors, daughter and daughter-in-law, Kris Lingerfelt Bright and Nancy Palaima of Pensacola, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Bobbie Wallace of Athens; grandsons and spouses, Stephen and Hannah Cordell of Etowah, Cameron and Olivia Cordell of Athens, Jason and Heather Sanders of Athens; great-grandchildren, Hailey Sanders, Lexie Sanders, Jackson Sanders, Weston Cordell; great-great grandson, Grayson Sanders; long time family friend Tari Holmes of Jeffersonville, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. Interment will follow at McMinn Memory Gardens. Those unable to attend may send condolences to www.laycockhobbsfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Ama-Cordell
