Bruce Dodson

Bruce Dodson, age 66 of Riceville, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 at Starr Regional Medical Center of Athens. He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and the son of the late Sewell and Ann Clark Dodson. He was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church, and retired from Bowater after 40 years. He was a believer in Jesus, enjoyed farming and his grandchildren. He was the most selfless and generous person, always willing to help. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Dodson;.mother and father-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Archer,
Survivors include his wife of  41 years,Tamra Archer Dodson of Riceville; four daughters, Shawna Sumner (Isaac) of Riceville, Kristian Loggins (Shawn) of  Soddy Daisy, Brittany Dodson and Whitney Dodson of Riceville. Eight grandchildren, Clark Sumner, Anna Sumner, Lelia Sumner, Nathaniel Sumner, John Sumner, Sarah Sumner,  Lennox Loggins and Brylan Dodson. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 4 pm Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Eastanallee Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Bice officiating. The interment will be at Eastanallee Cemetery following the service. The pallbearers Jimmy Parkinson, Larry Lane, Greg Hutsell, Trevin Parkinson, Chris Dodson, Chad Dodson. Honorary pallbearers J.O.Blazer, Sherman Shamblin, Billy Parkinson, Calvin Cate and Jimmy Crisp. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday before the service at the church.
