Carolyn Gaylon Collins

Carolyn "Tooter" Galyon Collins, age 75, of Athens passed away  Friday, July 6, 2018 at U.T. Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Athens and was the daughter of the late Odes and Juanita Ditmore Galyon.  She was a member of McMahan Calvary Baptist Church where she loved  to lead the singing.  A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Tooter also helped raise several children who continued to be considered family as adults.  Her passion for gardening and flowers were visual displays of the love she had for her family and friends, as everyone was welcome in their home.

She was preceded in death by:

• Her husband of 51 years Tom Collins (March 4, 2014).
• One brother Daryl Galyon.

Survivors include:

• Two daughters and son-in-law: Cynthia Collins of Athens;  Melissa and Gregg Bostick of Lenoir City
• Grandchildren:  Justin and Shay Dexter, Mathew Dexter, Halie Axley and Jackson Bostick
• Great-grandchildren:  Abigail Dexter, Collin Dexter, Brycen Dexter and Jackson Sylvester.
• Sister-in-law: Judy Galyon
• Brother and sisters-in-law: Dick and Ellen Collins, Virginia Brackett, Ann and Al Harris and Louise Guyer.

Funeral services will be 7 pm Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Gregg Bostick officiating.

The interment will be 11 am Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Justin Dexter, Mathew Dexter, Jackson Bostick, Dewayne Galyon, Joe Noble, and Milton Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday in the chapel before the service.
