Charles "Dale" Prescott

 CHARLES DALE PRESCOTT age 92 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Thursday Jan. 16, 2025, at Terra Bella of Athens, Tenn. He was a native of Flintsone, Ga, resident of McMinn County for 65 years, son of the late John Samuel and Hazel Elizabeth Parrish Prescott, and preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Elizabeth Adair Prescott, Daughter: Debra Dale Prescott McSpadden, Son: Scott Alan Prescott, 2 Sons-in-law: Steven Ross Powers and John McSpadden, Granddaughter: Jennifer Jackson, Sister: Johnnie Lou Seaberg. Dale was a Banker having served with Pilot Finance Co., Farmers Bank, Liberty Bank, and FSG Financial. He was Past President of Athens Lions Club, member of Athens Rotary Club and was Captain of the 1950 Football Team of Chattanooga Valley. He was a member of Athens Church of Christ. He was a Veteran of Korean Conflict having served in the U. S. Air Force. Dale was a hiker having hiked much of the Appalachian Trail and an avid runner competing in many races. He also volunteered at the Swift Museum.

Survivors: Two Daughters: Cathy (Kenny) Higgins of Riceville, Tenn., Vicki Marie Prescott Powers of Athens, Tenn. Brother: Jack Prescott of Ringgold, Ga. Sister: Diane Howard of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., Grandchildren: Mandy Galyon, Holly Higgins Anthony, Zane Prescott, and Chandler Prescott. .

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with James Summers officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will Dewayne Galyon, Andrew Galyon, Zane Prescott, Rusty Barnett, Grant Barnett, and Jimmy Curtis. The family will receive friends from 11:30 - 1:00 PM.
