David Lee Mason

David Lee Mason, age 71 of Athens, went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 10, 2025. He was a native of Madisonville, but was resident of Athens most of his life. He was the son of the late Willie Edward Mason and Lorene Carroll . David was a supervisor for AthensTable Company, and worked in law enforcement with the McMinn County Sherriffs Department for several years. He was preceded in death by his wife Gail Lynn Mason, son Gregory Houston Mason, sister, Louise "Louie" Mason, a brother, Ricky Edward Mason, and brother-in-law Teddy Graves.

Survivors include; sIx sisters, Lucille "Lucy" Graves of Athens, Patricia Ann Randolph of Decatur, Barbara "Bobbye"and Mike Ward of Athens, Shirley Gail Wright of Riceville, Betty Elizabeth Callahan of Cleveland, Sharon Anita and George Parker of Old Fort, TN, one special brother-in-law, Lee Mason of Niota; two granddaughters, Kayla Mason and Cameron Mason; two great-grand daughters, Bryleigh Trew and Aubry Peeler;

Funeral services will be 7 pm January 14, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs, Funeral Home with the Rev Donnie Dalton officiating . The graveside service will be 11am Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at McMinn Memory Gardens. The pallbearers will be Phil Graves, Nick Ward, Chris Revis, Gage Loveless, Blake Wright, and Jimmy McKinney. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home before the service.
