Dorothy Jean Evans age 60 of Athens passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville.
A native and life-long resident of Athens she was a daughter of the late Kathleen Evans and was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, Keyara Jackson, Jameer Moore and Shytez Jackson and a nephew, Saquan Evans.
She was a former employee of Starr Regional Medical Center in the dietary department and was the head cook at NHC healthcare . She was a former foster parent and cared for many children throughout her life as the Summer Coordinator at Education Station child care facilitiy.

2 daughters and son-in-law, Latoya and Jeffrey DeWayne Moore of Athens;Fallon Evans of Athens;
1 son, Nicholas Evans
2 sisters, Marquitta Evans and Vashti Evans both of Athens
Aunts and Uncles, Sara and Bob Jones of Athens, Stephanie Johnson of Athens, John and Laura Johnson of Athens;
Grandchildren, Jada Brown, Nelan Evans, Adrianna Williams, Kellen Jackson, Jahmad Moore, Jacori Moore, Jakeem Evans.
1 great-granchild Jameerion Dean.
Nieces and Nephews, Malika Evans, Mylasia Hunt, Jalen Hunt and Davion Evans.
Special friends, Rena Martin, Tammy Martinez, Shytanna Simpson McDermott, Sandy Espey, Tamika Bradley, Amy Arnwine, Sandy Newton, Tabitha and Troy McDermott and Rebecca Porter.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 8, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon-1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
