E.F. (Bud) Hopson, age 88 of Athens, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at his residence. A native of Washburn, TN and resident of McMinn County since 1969, he was the son of the late Jesse and Hazel Davidson Hopson. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Niota and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and Shriners and was preceded in death by his brother Mark E. Hopson.

Wife of 65 years, Loetta F. Hopson of Athens
Several cousins, and two nephews, Allen Ault of Knoxville and Chuck Walker of Oak Ridge, TN.; cousin, Dwight Jordan of Athens.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, December 16, 2022 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Cullen Conner officiating. The interment will be at McMinn Memory Gardens immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Friday at the funeral home before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Special Education and Special Olympics.
