January 12, 1939 - January 25, 2025

Elizabeth Ann Elliott, lovingly known as "Betsy," passed away peacefully on January 25 at Sweetwater Hospital in Sweetwater, TN, at the age of 86. Born on January 12, 1939, in Athens, TN, Betsy was a lifelong resident of the Tranquility Community and a devoted member of the Sewee Church of God, where she faithfully served as a song leader throughout her life.

Betsy graduated from McMinn County High School and spent most of her life as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. For a brief time, she worked at Bowater and at Texas Hydraulics, but her true passion was caring for her family and serving her church. Betsy was known for her unwavering love, her kindness, and her willingness to help everyone.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Cecil Elliott; her son, Jeff Elliott; her daughter, Kim Elliott Driver and husband, Michael; and her grandchildren: Natasha Calhoun and husband Jordan, Cody Elliott and wife Anna, Kyndal Barker and husband Kendall, and Eli Driver. She was a proud great-grandmother to Harrison Calhoun, Hayes Calhoun, Justin Elliott, and Thompson Elliott. Brother: Roy (Jennifer) Hutsell 

Betsy was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Land; her parents, William Clyde and Sarah Elizabeth Hutsell; her sisters, Winona “Winnie” Axley, Blanche Landers, and Carolyn "Cackie" Elliott; and her brothers, Bennet, Charles, Don, Joe, and John Hutsell.

Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Friday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Parton officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday in Sewee Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends 5-7pm Friday prior to the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sewee Church of God Cemetery Fund. Her family and friends will remember her as a pillar of faith and love in the community, always eager to serve and support those around her. Betsy leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and service that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
