Frankie Sue Winder Benton, 88, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend went to be with her Savior on Saturday morning, Feb.11, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family.
She was born and lived in McMinn County all of her life. A daughter of the late Wayne and Jessie Winder, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Earl Kenneth Benton, two brothers, Daniel Winder and David Winder, and one great grandchild, Baby Wilson.
A loving and gifted homemaker, she was a cake baker, seamstress, quilter, babysitter, gardener, and our families biggest encourager and supporter. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church where she was very active in church activities and the Deborah Sunday School class. She was a former hospice house-call volunteer, and avid volunteer at local nursing facilities.
Survivors include; one son and daughter-in -law, Kenny and Cindy Benton of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ricky Bright of Athens; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and T. J. Wilson of Athens, Jeremy and Brooke Benton of Athens, Cayci and Cody Jordan of Cleveland, and Ben Bright of Athens; seven great grandchildren, Cora Jade, Jude Alexander, and Andrew-Jase Bailey Wilson, Adelyn Mae and Zoe Olivia Benton, James Lucas and Laney Elizabeth Jordan; one sister, Evelyn W. Rodgers; two sisters-in-law, Linda Winder and Evelyn Winder; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7 PM at East Athens Baptist Church with the Dr. Brian Trapp, Rev. Mike Dannel, and Rev. Wayne Stowers officiating. The family will receive friends at East Athens Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 4-7 PM. Burial will be 11 AM Wednesday, Feb. 15 at McMinn Memory Gardens following a processional from Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Donny Anderson, Barry Toomey, Larry Toomey, Jamie McConkey, Darren Ricks, Joe Knox, Colton Brown, Richard Harrill IV, Darrell McCormick, Bill Cowls, and Mike Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the nephews of Frankie Sue Benton.
