Genia Shell Chastain

GENIA SHELL QUALLS,  age 88 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Sunday, 16, 2022 at, Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, Tenn.,  daughter of the late Millard Ray and Ettie Malone Shell and preceded in death by Husband: Martin K. Chastain and Son: Jeffery  K. Chastain. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was a well known pianist through the area and played for singing groups, special events, churches, and with various other groups and organizations. During her residence at Dominion Assisted Living she was appointed Ambassador for Dominion.
Survivors: Two daughters and sons-in-law: Anne and Calvin Letner of Englewood, Tenn.,  Alison ad Travis Barnett of Englewood, Tenn., Daughter--in-law: Dotty Chastain of Englewood, Tenn, Sister and brother-in-law: Ginger and Roger Malloy of Athens, Tenn., Five Grandchildren and spouses: Katie and Travis Swafford, Evan and Lacy Chastain, Jared Chastain, Lauren and Ty West, William and Ella Barnett, Great Granddaughter: Sage Claire West, Nephew and Spose: Allan and Kathy Malloy, Niece: Leanne Malloy
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Wednesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Travis Barnett officiating. Active pallbearers will be Evan Chastain, Jared Chastain, William Barnett, Travis Swafford, and Ty West,   Honorary pallbearers will be Katie Swafford, Lauren West, Lacy Chastain, Ella Barnett, The family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Trentham and his staff for their care and compassion.
