IMOGENE UNDERWOOD BELK, age 91 of Athens, Tenn passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, in Athens Place of Athens. She was a native of Meigs County, Tenn., lifelong resident of McMinn County, a daughter of the late Jess and Nina Arnwine Underwood and preceded in death by her Husband: Wrondel R. "Runt" Belk. She retired from Athens City School System (Westside Elementary School and Athens Junior High School) after 22 years of service and was a former employee of Athens Plow Co. She was a member of North Athens Baptist Church for 48 years. She volunteered at Starr Regional Medical Center for 14 years.
Two daughters and sons-in-law: Sandy and Jim Donahue of New Freedom, Pa. Carol and Stuart McKinney of Athens, Tenn., Son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Shirley Belk of Athens, Tenn. Brother and Sister-in-law: Fred and Irene Underwood of Athens, Ten., Six Grandchildren: Todd Belk, April (Matt) Myers, Hunter (Lauren) McKinney, Haley McKinney, Shea (Natasha) Eaton, Malachi Green. Six Great Grandchildren: Lucas Eaton, Luke, Abe, and Samuel Myers, Amelia and Hazel McKinney. several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Arwood officiating. Interment will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Stuart McKinney, Hunter McKinney, Jim Donahue, Matt Myers, Todd Belk, and Shea Eaton.
