Ina Catherine Lunsford, age 95 of Athens passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at Dominion Senior Living in Athens. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, Tenn., daughter of the late Walter Lewis and Beatrice Wattenbarger Carroll , preceded in death by her Husband George Thomas Lunsford, Son: George Daniel (Kaye) Lunsford, Three Sisters: Eula Keaton, Leona "Toni" Richeson, Velda Carroll Hyde, Brother: Lewis Sonny Carroll and an infant sister. She was a member of Boyd Memorial Church of God and worked for Athens Hosiery Mill before retiring from Niota Textile. Survivors: Son: Walter Dale (Edna) Lunsford of Athens, Tenn., Brother: Vernon (Nellie) Carroll of Athens, Granddaughter: Brittany (Brian) Johnson, Great Grandsons: Bryce and Brendan Johnson, several nieces.
Funeral service will be 7:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Croft officiating. The graveside will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at McMinn Memory Gardens with Rev. Martin Boling officiating. Active pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Bryce Johnson, Brendan Johnson, Stacey Geren, Ron Middlebrooks and, Ray Cunningham The family will receive friends from 5-7 Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to their church. The family would like to thank the staff of Dominion Senior Living and Hearth Hospice for their excellent care of our love one.
