James Gary Landers, age 74, of Riceville, ran into the arms of the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2025. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Buck and Blanche Hutsell Landers. He was an avid golfer, retired from Bell South and an active member of Eastanallee Baptist Church serving as deacon, and Sunday school teacher for many years. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Survivors include; wife of 53 years, Connie Landers of Riceville; one son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Theda-Christy Landers of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Bryan Hockman of Athens and Beth and Trey Rollo of Athens; grandchildren, Jackson Penley, Ty Landers, Emma Plemons, Carson Plemons, Ryleigh Landers, Abby and Ryan Fowler, Kylee Hockman, Kyndal Rollo, Jax Rollo, Sophie Rollo; great-grandchildren, Poppie Fowler and Steele Fowler ; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Mike Frazier of Riceville, Lisa and Jim McEvoy of Athens, Sharon and Richard Brogan of Riceville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Sherry Landers of Riceville, and Terry and Peggy Landers of Riceville; sister-in-law, Cate and Warren Buck of Snohomish, Washington; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 pm Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Eastanallee Baptist Church with the Dr. Mike Frazier, and Heath Frazier officiating. The graveside will be 11am Friday, Feb. 14, 2025 at Eastanallee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Axley, Matt Landers, Jeremy Landers, Tracy Wilson, Ryne Frazier, Justin Frazier and Jacob Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be the old White Oaks golf crew, Ted Hutsell, Rodney Dunn, Robert Ferris, Bill Fugate and Bill Snyder. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Thursday at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be sent to Eastanallee Building Fund.
