Jerry E Caldwell

Jerold “Jerry” Edgar Caldwell, 81, passed away Sunday, April 9^th, 2023. Jerry was born on May 10^th, 1941.

Jerry was born to James E. and Edith (Butler) Caldwell in Ballengee, WV on Saturday, May 10, 1941. He attended and graduated from Talcott High School in Talcott, WV in 1959. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after 21 years of service as a SMSgt (E-8).  After retiring from the service he transitioned over to owning a Small Engine Repair business in Atlanta, GA before retiring and moving to his home in Athens, TN.

Jerry is survived by his wife Meredith Caldwell, his children Leo Mason, Jerold Caldwell Jr., Josette  Caldwell Robbins and step-daughters Jacquline Stephens, Melissa Flewelling and Joelle Whitener.  He is also survived by his 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Forever remembered by his surviving siblings Francis Parker, Judy Hare and Charles Caldwell (wife- Jennifer) and preceded in death by his siblings Curtis Caldwell, Melvin Caldwell, Ronnie Caldwell, and Janice Sue Caldwell as well as his daughter Vanessa Caldwell.

Jerry was a kind soul who had many passions in life like fishing, hunting and just spending time sharing stories with family members and close friends. One of his greatest passions in life was his love for animals. He found comfort and peace with his Bassett Hound “Bear Bear.” His days involved helping others and hanging with his Dog.  He truly loved the Mountains and took many rides in the Fall to see the changing colors of the leaves and take in the cool Mountain air.

He was an awesome, caring and loving man inside and out. His was always the “calm” in the storm and cared deeply for his family and friends.  He was always helping others and made an impact on many lives. He will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
