JOE E. MASON, age 72 of Athens, Tenn. known as "The Breadman" passed away Thursday, Nov 17, 2022, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a son of the late Cecil and Frankie Mason and preceded in death by his wife: Sandy J. Mason, Twin Sister: Emma Pearl Wattenbarger, Sister: Carolyn McElhaney, and Brother: Roy Mason. He retired from Sara Lee Bread Co. after 39 years of service. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Survivors: Two Sons and Two Daughters-in-law: Casey and Audrey Mason of Athens, Tn., Heath and Tracie Mason of Dunlap, Tn., Sister: Phyllis Armstrong of Etowah, Tn., Brothers: J. C. Mason of Riceville, Tn., Jackie Mason of Madisonville, Tn., Virgil Mason of Niota, Tn., Eight Grandchildren: Christian (Jade) Mason, Alyssa (Adrian Camargo) Sampson Andrew Sampson, Bryce Mason, Sidney Dennis, Jesyca Dennis, Chloe Mason and DiMaggio Mason Three Great Grandchildren: Juliana Mason, Elijah Camargo and Ezrah Camargo, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services 7:00 P.M. E.S.T. Monday, November 21, 2022, in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Watson officiating. Interment will be 12:00 Noon E.S.T Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Christian Mason, Bryce Mason, Adrian Camargo, Johnny Hawn, Drew Hawn, and Randy Miller. Honorary pallbearer will be Kenneth Taylor. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 5-7 Monday.
