John Thomas Thompson

JOHN THOMAS THOMPSON,  age 72 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Tuesday, September, 6, 2022, in Tennova of Cleveland, Tenn. He was born in Monroe County, Tenn., lifelong resident of McMinn County, a son of the late Roy Thompson and Mary G. Woodby Thompson and preceded in death by his First : Gloria Marie "Flo" Thompson, Brothers: Wayne Thompson,  Roy "Buddy" Thompson, Jr., Claude Thompson, and Sister: Louella Palmer. He was an employee for over 40 years at Smokey Mountain Transfer. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Wife: Sheila Ward Thompson of Athens, Tenn.  Two Sons: Mike William Thompson of Sweetwater, Tenn., Martin Wayne Thompson of Athens, Tenn., Grandchildren: Dakota Thompson, Shaun Thompson,  Keyle Thompson, several great grandchildren,   Sisters: Earline McKheean of Athens, Tenn., Shelby Knox of Athens, Tenn., Kathy and Larry Morrow of  Athens, Tenn., Vickie and John Page of Athens, Tenn. and Markie and Eddie Malone of Ten Mile  Sister-in-law: Barbara Erwin and Betty Thompson, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 10, 2022 in McMinn Memory Gardens with his nephew Chris Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends from  1:00 to 2:30 Saturday in the funeral home.
