Larry Ralph Blankenship

LARRY R. BLANKENSHIP,  age 71 of Athens, Tn. passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at his residence. Although it was unexpected by his family they know God said it was time. A veteran of the United States Army and retiree from Olin Chemical. Larry worked hard to provide for his family that he loved. An avid Bass Guiter player he played for many local gospel groups as well as his church. Known as "Dude"  by his friends his favorite titles were Dad and Papa. After the passing of his wife Robyn, of 44 years, God blessed him with a woman that words fall short to describe, Donna Gail Long. Larry was preceded in death by his wife: Robyn A. Blankenship, Parents: Ralph and Angelee Blankenship and Sister: Hazel Duckett. 
Survivors: Daughter: Amber (Travis) Torbett, Granddaughters: Makaylee and Madison Torbett, Sister: Connie (Elden) Everhart, Brothers: Steve (Lisa) Blankenship and Pat Blankenship, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Lones and Rev. Travis Torbett officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Monday in Green Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ted Watson, Cody Robinson, Gary Everhart, Marques Patton, James White, and Paul Conrad.   The family will receive friends from 5-7 Sunday in the funeral home.
