Linda Scarbrough Walker King, age 75 of Athens, died after a lingering illness on Monday, September 19, 2022 at West Hills Health and Rehab of Knoxville. A native of Athens and a resident of Knoxville for 12 years, she was the daughter of the late William Athel and Mary Sue Strickland Scarbrough. She worked in retail and furniture sales in Athens and Knoxville, including 15 years with McSpadden Furniture in Athens before she joined Fowler's Furniture in Knoxville. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Athens. She was a loving Nana and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved her dog Tori, and enjoyed spending time outside. She was preceded in death by her husbands J.P. Walker, former Mayor of Charleston, Tennessee, and Russell King of Athens.
Survivors; son and daughter-in-law, William Christopher and Natalie Walker of Knoxville; step son and wife, Steve and Cindy Walker of Charleston, Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Juanita Scarbrough of Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and David Lauver of Knoxville; grandchildren, William and Elizabeth Walker; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Upper Spring Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Hutsell officiating. Those who plan to ride in procession to the cemetery may meet at the funeral home at 10:00 am Saturday. Contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation www.jdrf.org .
