Lonzo Murphy Lamb

LONZO M. LAMB, age 90 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at his residence. He was a native of Meigs County, resident of McMinn County most of his life and preceded in death by his wife: Johnnie Marie Henden Lamb and mother Tilda Jane Howard Lamb, and great granddaughter: Esther Lamb "Essie" Hill and Seven Sisters and one Brother. He retired after 44 years of service with Athens Utilities Board Gas Division as a Superintendent. He was a member of Woodmen of the World. He was a former president of Tennessee Gas. Association and  was on the Board of the American Gas Assocation. Mr. Lamb  served on many Committees of American Public Gas Association including being selected to receive the American Public Gas Association Personal Achievement Award. He wrote and developed the Division of Gas Craftworkers Apprentice Program in 1988. 
Survivors: Daughter and Son-in-law: Lonette Lamb (Steve)  Berg of Birmingham, Ala. Granddaughter and spouse: Elizabeth (Jonathan) Berg Hill of Athens, Tenn. Great Granddaughters: Ruth Lamb (Jonathan) Hill, Abigail White Hill, Beloved Companion and Friend: Gussie M. Richesin, Two Brothers: Lester Lamb of Chattanooga, Tenn., Jerry Lamb of McMinn County, Tenn., Sister: Ruth Dawson of Etowah, Tenn. several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2023 in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Lonette Lamb Berg officiating. Entombment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
