Lou Jean Hutsell, age 78, of Athens, died Monday, July 17, 2023, at Life Care Center of Athens.
She was the daughter of the late John Scott Jr and Gladys Trotter Powell and was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 47 years marriage, Don Hutsell, who passed away on Sept. 5, 2011, two half-sisters Shirley Powell Duer and Beth Elaine Powell, a half-brother Bill Powell.
She retired from Mayfield's after 37 years as a Programmer, System Analyst and Business Analyst.
Survivors include Two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Pam Hutsell of Athens, Bill and Kristi Hutsell of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, David Hutsell, Kelton Hutsell and Emma Hutsell; sister and brother-in-law, Johnnie Kaye and Ron Arnett; Nephews and Nieces: Bryan, Eleanor, Joseph Arnett, and Blake Arnett .
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Hutsell and Rev. Martin Bolin officiating. Interment will be 10:00 A.M. Friday in Buttram's Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Thursday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Life Care of Athens and Dominion Assisted Living for all of their love and care.
