Loyd Allen Norwood

Loyd Allen Norwood, age 92, of Niota passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

He was a native of McMinn County and the son of the late Nathaniel "Nep" and Audie Boyd Norwood.  He was preceded in death by four sisters and

brothers-in-law: Essie and Sherman Raper, Effie and Johnny Bean, Nina Ruth and John W. "Jay" Presswood, and Barbara and Gerald Grant; six brothers and

sisters-in-law: Hoyt and Margaret Norwood, Ernest and Helen Norwood, Roy Norwood, Clifford "Coot" and Lily Norwood, D.M. "Deke" and Janet Norwood, and Wesley Norwood.

He was a farm mechanic for over 50 years with a passion for John Deere equipment.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Sue Ray Norwood, daughter Susan Norwood, brother J.W. "Jake" Norwood, sister-in-law Willie Norwood, special niece Carla Sue Shifflett, and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 10, 2019, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.  Graveside service will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 PM Monday prior to the service.  Pallbearers are Richard Layman, Melin Shifflett, Buddy Burkett, and Aaron McDowell.  Honorary pallbearers are David Norwood and T.R. Casteel.
