On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Mack Shane Putman, age 57 of Athens, entered into his heavenly home after a long and valiant fight against heart disease. Shane's greatest joy was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He graduated from Dallas Baptist University where he was a cheerleader and baseball player. It is also where he met the love of his life, his wife of twelve years, Janene Cates Putman. He worked as a program manager for Microsoft for twenty-five years. He also enjoyed woodworking, sports, music, and working on his farm. Born in New Mexico, he spent most of his life in Texas, and the last five years in Athens. He was a member of Mosaic Church in Arlington, Texas where a memorial service will be held later.
He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Janene Cates Putman, of the home, five children, Morgan Biquet of Granbury, Texas, Terra Putman of Neches, Texas, Dayne Putman of Denver, Colorado, Derek Satterfield of Tallahassee, Florida, and Scarlet Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee, three kids-in-love, Travis, Ann-Marie, and Mindy, eight grandchildren, Payton, Taryn, Tanner, Asher, Trinity, Guinevere, Duncan and William.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2023 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Claire Brown officiating.
