Mary Ellen Sneed

MARY ELLEN BROWN SNEED, age 88 of Athens, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, February 23, 2018 at NHC Healthcare of Athens.

 A native of Monroe County and resident of McMinn County since 1952, she was a daughter of the late Willard Ruble and Rachel Rudd Brown.  She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for more than 60 years.. She  was a member of Woodman Life and McMinn Senior Citizens where she was very active helping with Crafts. She loved to travel, was an accomplished seamstress and an avid crafter.  

 Preceded in death by:  

• Sister:  Iva Pearl Sherlin
• Two brothers:  T. W. Brown and Ruble Brown.

Survivors:

• Husband of  62  years, Henry Ben "Buck" Sneed of Athens;
• One brother and Sister-in-law: Lynn and Carrie  Brown of Englewood;
• One sister: Inez Barnette of Niota;
• Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 25, 2018, in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Scallions officiating.

Interment will follow  in McMinn Memory Gardens. 

Pallbearers will be J.L. Barnette, Tracy Brown, Brandon Williams, Keith Tulloch, Dan Davis, and Ken Gilreath. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 Sunday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
