Mary Louise McCulloch Wattenbarger, 83, was born May 7, 1940. She passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2023 at Dominion Senior Living Center of Athens with her daughter and son in law by her side. Louise was proceeded in death by her parents Bill and Ethel McCulloch and her loving husband of 59 years at the time of his death, Rev.
W. Ogle Wattenbarger. Louise leaves behind a daughter and son in law Tina and Paul Morgan and three brothers and sisters in law Raymond and Jane McCulloch, Wayne and Gloria McCulloch, and Ronnie and Vicki McCulloch.
Louise attended Niota Elementary School and McMinn County High School and worked at Cresent Hosiery Mill. When she married Ogle in 1962, she faithfully served along side of him in his ministry. She spent three years working at Emory University Hospital to support them as Ogle was attending seminary. They spent 32 years in ministry together in the United Methodist Church throughout East Tennessee as she served as his secretary most of that time and was always willing to work in the churches in whatever capacity was necessary. Louise was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church, their last appointment before retirement in 2000. She also loved attending Trinity United Methodist Church where their daughter serves as Associate Pastor.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, November 1st at Laycock Hobbs Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be 1pm Thursday, November 2nd at Trinity United Methodist Church (100 E College St. Athens) followed by a committal service at McMinn Memory Gardens with Rev. Riley Huffstetler and Rev. Skip White officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Morgan, Mark Wattenbarger, Grayson Wattenbarger, Billy Roach, Josh Roach, Quinn Satherlie, and Tim Sharp. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church at PO Box 396, Athens, TN 37371. Please mark check "Wattenbarger Memorial". Laycock Hobbs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
