Mildred Geraldine Wallis

Mildred Geraldine McCosh Wallis, age 95, of Niota went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her residence. A lifelong resident of McMinn County,  she was the daughter of the late Bill and Loula Coffer McCosh. She was a member of Pond Hill Baptist Church and was a loving mother and wife. She loved gardening, canning and flowers. 

She was preceded in death by

• Her husband of 60 years, James Wallis ( Feb. 22, 2001);
• Three brothers, Herbert McCosh, Gene McCosh, Billy McCosh;
• One sister, Agnes Richardson;
• Daughter-in-law, Eva Sue Maples Wallis;
• Two sons-in-law, James Howard Kennedy, Jr., and Gerald Martin.

Survivors include:

• Five chidren and spouses; J.W. and Crystal Wallis of Cleveland, Barbara Kennedy of Niota, Dennis and Dianne Wallis of Sweetwater, Judy Martin of Niota, Kenny and Julie Wallis of Niota.
• 9 Grandchildren;
• 11 great grandchildren
• 13 great-great grandchildren.
• Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Coffey and Rev. Howie White officiating.  The graveside service will be 2:00 pm Sunday October 6, 2019 at Pond Hill Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Colton Wallis, Doug Wallace, Ronnie Kennedy, Tim Wallis, Josh Watson, and Will White. Two honorary pallbearers are Rodney Lunsford, and Kevin Hudson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home before the service .
