Ora Alene Mathews

ORA ALENE BLANKENSHIP MATHEWS, age 87 of Athens, Tenn. was ushered away to Paradise Sunday, June 9, 2019, in Life Care of Athens, Tenn. She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a daughter of the late Samuel Andrew Blankenship and Bertha Lucille Watkins Blankenship.  She was preceded in death by her Husband: Joffre Allen Mathews, Brother: Ralph Blankenship, Three Sisters:  Eva Lou Blankenship,  Anna Bea Gunter, and Virginia Witte. She was a former employee of Van Raalte Hosiery Mill, retired from Morgan Mfg. Co. and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.  She was a volunteer Pink Lady with Woods Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 10 years and American Red Cross Volunteer for 5 years. She loved yard sales, collecting magnets for her refrigerator and loved to watch her "stories" (Soap Operas).

Survivors: Several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in McMinn Memory Gardens with Dr. Bob Kerr officiating.  The family expresses gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Life Care of Athens for the care, love, and compassion during her extended stay.
