Orville J. Harris, age 84, of Athens, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 15, 2024 at Starr Regional Medical Center of Athens. A native of McMinn County, and a resident of Chattanooga for several years, he was the son of the late Ernie and Donnie Richardson Harris. He was a deacon and a member of East Athens Baptist Church. He was retired from Dupont after 35 years of service, and was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by siblings, Clarence "Buster" Harris, Catherine Sneed Herman Harris; brothers-in-law. Johnny Middleton, Robert Saffles, Alfred Sneed; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Harris and Janett Harris.
Survivors include; wife of 62 years, Pauline Eaves Harris of Athens; daughter, Robin Lynn Harris of Miami, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Dale Harris of Loudon; grandchildren, Tanner Harris (Maddie), Sydney Harris, Jessi Harris; great-grandchild, Harper Harris; sisters, Maybell Saffles, Della Sue Middleton; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 20, 2024 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Trapp officiating. The graveside service will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 21, 2024 at McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm at the funeral home before the service.
