RITA JOUDRY BOGGESS, age 88 of Athens, Tenn. died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, a NHC of Athens, Tenn. She was born in Sharon Springs, New York a daughter of the late Rev. Robert C. and Hazel Miller Joudry and preceded in death by Sister: Eugenie J. Gardner. The family moved to Gouverneur, N.Y. where she graduated from Gouverneur High School and then attended and graduated from A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing as an RN in 1951.She worked there at E. J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur, N. Y. After marrying the late Charles Robert Boggess moved to his home in Athens, Tenn. She worked at Epperson Hospital and also worked for Hiwassee Help Program, American Heart Association and Team Evaluation Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., all three organizations covered 5 counties. She belonged to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Athens, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She belonged to Episcopal Church Women for over 30 years and was treasurer for over 20 years. and also belonged to the Alter Guild for over 50 years in churches of residence. She also led Morning Prayer daily for many years.
Survivors: Two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert Joudry (Jody) and Janet H. Boggess of Athens, Tenn. and John Bennett and Rosemarie Boggess of Lamar, Arkansas, Two Daughters and son-in-law: Rebecca Lynn Boggess of Englewood, Tenn. and Laura B. and Vincent Castellani of Englewood, Tenn., Brother: Kermit W. Joudry of Athens, Tenn., Two Sisters: Janet J. Sabo of Hudson Falls, NY, Kathleen J. Williams of Glens Falls, N Y Sister-in-law: Patricia (Patsy) Cox Rogers of Athens, Tenn. 8 Grandchildren: Melissa Blair, Benjamin Johnson, David Mashburn, Lauren E. (Beth) Fauls, Jayson Boggess, Daniel Mashburn, Bradford Johnson, Jeffrey Boggess, 7 Great Grandchildren: Jamison, Braden, Madilynn Blair, Fiona Fauls, Eliza Fauls, Jax Hudson Boggess, and Beckett Benjamin Johnson. Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Saturday in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Drew Bunting officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will recieve friends from 6-8 Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 123 S.
