Ronald "Ronnie" McPhail

CLARENCE RONALD "RONNIE" McPHAIL, age 80 of Etowah TN. passed away peacefully on 3/19/25 at Bradley Medical Center in Cleveland. He was born on December 21, 1944 in Athens, TN to Clarence Cooper and Naomi Hughes McPhail and was proceeded in death by Larry Don McPhail. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jo McPhail; two sons, Keith McPhail of Athens, TN and Jeff McPhail and wife Paige McPhail of Dacula, GA and his only grandson Reece McPhail of Dacula, GA and several nieces and nephews. Ronnie was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. He spent 30 years working for Bell South in both Etowah and Athens. He enjoyed working with everyone in the community and his friends from his work. Everyone who got to know Ronnie loved him and his wit. He loved his family more than anything from spending time coaching his sons when they were young, to working on any project his loving wife Jo wanted. In his later years, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandson Reece. Ronnie made a great impact on many of the lives that he came in contact with. He will be especially missed by his family, but they look forward to reuniting with him in heaven one great day in the future.

There will be a memorial service 7:00 pm Saturday, March 22, 2025, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Saturday before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to a charity that is very important and close to them.
