Rosella Thompson

Rosella Thompson, age 86 of Athens, passed away Thursday, April17, 2025 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Eugene and Mary Sue Dodson. She was a loving mother, and a talented crafter. She loved her garden, flowers and Christmas. She enjoyed her morning preachers and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Although she had trouble with her vision, she has perfect vision now. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe C.Thompson; sister, Genia Wexel; granddaughter, Megon Creighton, precious grandmother "Maw" Lillie McNabb Dodson.

Survivors include; two daughters, Judy Thompson Creighton (Curtis) of Cleveland, and Dana Thompson Bennewitz (Dan) of Knoxville; and son Scott Thompson (Joy) of Athens. Grandchildren, Candace Creighton Guevara, Adam Creighton, Ty Bennewitz, Koltin Thompson, Kristin Crisp; 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Emma Jane (EJ) Browder, Shelia Jaynes (Cloyd); several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:30 am -1:30 pm Tuesday April 22, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2 pm at McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jonathon Kyle officiating.
