Roy Samuel Wilson

ROY SAMUEL "Papaw"  WILSON,   age 101, of Athens, Tenn. passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019, Athens Place in Athens, Tenn. He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, Tenn., a son of the late Charles Franklin and Inez Arlington White Wilson, and preceded in death by his wife: of 60 years Geneva  Robertson "Nanny" Wilson of Dec. 26, 2008,  Sister: Beulah Womac, and two brothers: Clifford L. Wilson and John Wilson.  He was retired from Cox Auto Parts and a member of First Baptist Church of Athens. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed bowling and did so with  the Senior Citizens and gardening. 
Survivors:

• Two Daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Dr. Charles W. "Chuck" Bivens of Athens, Tenn.,  Nancy and Gene Davis of Athens, Tenn., 
• Five Grandchildren and Spouses: Stephanie and Kelly Kovach, Mandy and Gantt Neill, Kati and Jason Wallis, Chelsey Davis and Cole Davis,
• Eight Great Grandchildren:  Emma-Claire Kovach, Gabe Kovach, Annelise Kovach,  Owen Neill, Ava-Grace Kovach, Genevieve Neill,   Maclane Neill , and  Maggie  Wallis 
• Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like the thank ladies of Athens Place and Hospice Caregiver: Laura.

Funeral services will be  6:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Wallis officiating. 

Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Monday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Bivens, Gene Davis,  Gabe Kovach, Cole Davis, Ric Wilson, Kelly Kovach, and Gantt Neill.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 Sunday in the funeral home.
