Sammie Kaye Swanks

SAMMIE KAYE  SMITH SWANKS,  age 78 of Ten Mile, Tenn. passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 in Erlanger East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., She was a native of  McMinn County, resident most of her life of Ten Mile, Tenn.,  a Daughter of the late Henderson Palmer and Anna Heiskell Smith and preceded in death by Grandson: Alex Bales. She was a member of Ten Mile United Methodist Church. She taught Art and English in Knox County and Meigs County. 
Survivors: Two Sons and daughters-in-law: Jonathan Swanks of Ten Mile, Tenn.,  Kevin (Amy) Swanks of Ten Mile, Tenn.,former daughter-in-law: Tabitha Swanks, Former Husband:  Jerry Swanks of Ten Mile, Tenn., Five  Grandchildren: Lillian Swanks, Lorelei Swanks ,Ashley Mattox Veronica Mattox  Madelyn Vankirk Three Great Grandchildren:   June, , Juliann , Delilah. several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Bryant officiating .  Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in Edgmon  Cemetery with Rev. Fred Jones officiating.. Thhe family will recieve friends from 4-6 Tuesday in the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Swanks, Jerry Swanks, Jonathan Swanks, Jason Kirk, Jason Voyles, and  Shaun Smith.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ten Mile United Methodist Church, 355 Ten Mile Rd.  ,Ten Mile, Tenn. 37880.
