Sara Lois Sturgill Armstrong

SARA LOIS STURGILL ARMSTRONG, age 89 of Niota, Tenn. passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at her residence. She a native of Solway, Tenn. resident most of her life in Visalia, California where she and her husband Jay owned and operated an orange grove and had an olive grove, she was a resident of McMinn County, Tenn., a daughter of the late John J and Myrtle Irene Johnson Sturgill preceded in death by her husband: Jay Elden Armstrong, Brothers: Frank Sturgill, Jack Sturgill, Ray Sturgill, Dan Sturgill, Joe Sturgill and Henry Sturgill. She was was a member Keith United Methodist Church where she taught Home Service Class for many years. 
Survivors: Brother: Carl Sturgill of Niota, Tenn. Two Stepsons: Robb Armstrong  of Chino, Calif., Aaron Armstrong of Los Osos, Calif. Sister-in-law: Alline Thomas Sturgill of Riceville, Tenn. several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 7, 2024 in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rick Lay officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 8, 2024 in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be family. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Friday in the funeral home.
