Steven Patrick Brusseau, 45, of Knoxville passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at his home.
Born June 23, 1979, in Bloomsburg, Pa., Steve was the youngest of three sons born to Larry and Margie Brusseau. The family moved to Florida in 1981, where Steve and his brothers spent their childhood years. The family enjoyed special vacations every year and spent many days in Florida theme parks. Steve graduated from Dunedin High School in 1997.
From a very early age, Steve had a passion for automobiles – driving them and fixing them. He was the “family mechanic.”
Steve and his then-wife, Kerri, moved to Knoxville in 2009 to be closer to his parents and brothers and to start his own family. He took a job at AutoZone and worked his way up the ladder to become the wholesale parts manager at the Chapman Highway location.
Steve was an avid fan of Tennessee Volunteers athletics, often ending conversations or text messages with “Go Big Orange.” He also loved music and his favorite musician was Pink Floyd singer and guitarist David Gilmour.
The most important part of Steve’s life was his children, Hannah and Connor. He was a devoted father and never missed an opportunity to be part of his kids’ lives. No matter what was happening, his children came first and he was extremely proud of their accomplishments.
Steve did everything he could to create the best experiences possible for Hannah and Connor. On a recent trip to North Georgia, he and the kids were planning to take the lift up Stone Mountain, but it was closed. Not wanting his kids to miss out on the experience, Steve hiked up the mountain with them despite having a broken toe.
Steve was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and nephew and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Though he was taken far too soon, his legacy will be the daughter and son that he adored.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aldama and Margaret Brusseau and Harold and Ruth Price; and his uncle, Harold “Froggy” Price Jr.
He is survived by his children, Hannah and Connor Brusseau, both of Knoxville; his parents, Larry and Margie Brusseau of Athens; his brothers, Mike Brusseau, and his wife, Carrie, of Knoxville, and Andrew Brusseau of Athens; his nephew, Nathan Brusseau of Knoxville; his twin nieces, Taylor and Chelsie Brusseau of Knoxville; aunt and uncle, Dan and Patti Wilson of Charlottesville, Va.; his cousin, Maggie Clark, her husband, Steve, and their daughter, Caitlin, all of Leesburg, Va.; his cousin, Kelly Kipps, her husband, Andrew, and their son, Theodore, all of New Market, Va.; his aunt, Sharon Price of Bloomsburg, Pa.; his cousin, Julie Allen, and her son, Zachary, both of Bloomsburg, Pa.; his cousin, Jeffrey Price, and his sons, Hunter and Reid, all of Bloomsburg, Pa.; the mother of his children, Kerri Conklin of Knoxville; and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
