Carolyn Godsey Archer of Niota, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022 at her residence. A native and lifetime resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Lillie Melton Godsey, She loved her family and cooking. and was a member of Union McMinn Baptist, but her heart always belonged to Eastanallee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Archer, Sr. (February 14, 2011). and son-in-law, Chris Grayson. one sister Dorothy Evelyn Gee, brother Luther Van Godsey. two great-grandsons, Jonathon Edward and David Elijah Sumner
Survivors; one son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Lisa Archer of Cleveland; Three daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya and Calvin Cate of Riceville, Tamra and Bruce Dodson of Riceville, and Renee and Chris Trew of Athens. 14 grandchildren and spouses, Amanda and Tim Guzowski, Jeffrey and Cameron Cate, Shawna and Isaac Sumner, Kristian and Shawn Loggins, Brittany and Whitney Dodson, Joey and Erica Archer and Jake Archer, Hannah and Raekwon Weston, Brent Grayson Sydney Trew, Caitlin and Matt Johnson and Cullen and KatieTrew; 14 great grandchildren, Trey and Ian Guzowski, Clark , Anna , Lelia, Nathaniel , John Sumner, Lennox Loggins, Brylan Dodson, Anderson Archer, Harris Weston, Cohen and Paxton Trew, Ily Johnson; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and David Raulerson of Jacksonville, Florida. Several nieces and nephews. One special cousin, Ruth Wilson.
