Vearl C. Kennedy

 VEARL KENNEDY, age 98 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, peacefully at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a son of the late Clifford Jay and Sarah Lou Hutsell Kennedy, and preceded in death by Sister: Nadean Cunningham. He was former co-owner of Athens Stockyards and raised cattle. He developed Kenwood Acres. He was of the Christian Faith and an active member of First Baptist Church of Athens where he served as an Usher and Greeter. 

Survivors: Wife of 75 years: Juanita Frances Wade Kennedy of Athens, Tenn., Two Daughters and Son-n-law: Kathy and Clyde Smith of Athens, Tenn., Cindy Kennedy of Cookeville, Tenn. Brother and Sister-in-law: Arrants (Ann) Kennedy of Riceville, Tenn., Three Grandchildren: Carmen (Roy) Davis, Hayley (Jeff) Mullins, and Courtney Smith, Three Great Grandsons: Micah Stone, Cody Davis, and Jaxon Davis. several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Womack officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday in Idlewild Cemetery.
