William "Bill" Ernest Tickel, III age 73 of Athens fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday May 16, 2024 at his residence.
A native of Bexar County, Texas and a resident of McMinn County since 1987, he was a son of the late William Ernest, Jr. and Mittie Gordon Boyett Tickel and was preceded in death by his first wife Judy Lynn Price Tickel on October 15, 2016.
He was an active member of St. Nektarios Orthodox Church in Lenoir City, and was a former employee of UNUM in the IT department where he retired after 17 years of service.
Surivors include his wife of 6 years Debra Tickel of Athens;
daughter, Mary Tickel, daughter, Kate Tickel, son Ethan Tickel and wife Jamie, daughter Hannah and husband Jim Harder.
Grandchildren, Cinjin, Bella, Zeke and Rowdy.
6 step children and 17 step-grandchildren;

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. Nektarios Orthodox Church, 11525 US 321, Lenoir City, Tennessee. The family will have a private graveside service. The family will receive friends starting at 6:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2024 at the church in Lenoir City.
